Spinnium · a journal that only knows about weeks

Something wrong, or something missing? Email design.atefeh@gmail.com and it reaches the person who made the app. Settings → Send feedback does the same thing and fills in your app and iOS version, which usually saves a round trip.

Your writing

Where are my notes kept?

On your device, and only there. The app has no account, no server and no networking code at all. If you have iCloud Backup switched on, your device backup includes them the same way it does for any other app.

Does it sync between my phone and iPad?

Not yet. Spinnium is iPhone-only today, and notes stay on the device they were written on. They do carry over to a new phone if you restore it from an iCloud or computer backup.

How do I get my writing out?

Settings → Export your notes. Every note becomes one Markdown file you can mail to yourself, drop in Files, or open in any text editor. Nothing is locked in.

How do I delete one note?

Open the day and clear the text. A day with nothing written on it holds no note.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Delete all notes. It tells you how many there are and offers an export first. It cannot be undone, and it only touches notes — your settings are left alone.

Using the app

How do I move between weeks?

Swipe the flowers sideways, or drag the strip along the bottom — it follows your thumb and settles on the nearest week when you let go. Tap This week to come back.

How do I find a particular day?

Tap the magnifying glass and type it the way you would say it: today, Monday, Aug 20, last week, 3 weeks ago. You can also type any word you wrote, and the days you wrote it on come back with the sentence it sits in.

Why is there no month or year view?

That is the whole idea. A week is a length of time you can hold in your head; a year grid turns a journal into a scoreboard. There are no streaks and no reminders either, so there is nothing to fall behind on.

The flower keeps moving.

It breathes, at seven breaths a minute — the pace Apple's Breathe session uses. You can follow it or ignore it. If you would rather the screen were still, switch on Reduce Motion in Settings → Accessibility → Motion and everything that moves on its own stops.

The chime stopped playing.

Spinnium follows your phone's silent switch, so the chime is quiet whenever your ringer is. You can also turn it off outright in Settings → Chime while spinning.

Can I keep it private?

Settings → App Lock asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode when the app opens, and hides the app's preview in the app switcher. If Face ID fails, your passcode always works — you cannot be locked out of your own writing.

My week starts on a different day.

Settings → Week starts on. Pick any day; the flower and the dates follow it.
